Another type of "CRAFTINESS," I love to alter/repair things... I have been searching for a Pottery Barn Kids activity table, I heard they were VERY sturdy, and they have a lip so crayons and toys don't roll off into the mysterious missing toy abyss... I refused to pay close to $400 for this (no matter how amazing they are), on top of the price tag I found out that the paint tends to chip and crack- BUMMER... I still love the idea of a lip and the sturdiness, so I thought well if I can find one affordable enough (in this case $80 bucks) I could sand and paint it... I went from this...
With the use of this... Actually I didn't like the way the spray coated, so I got the
"paint" two (rolled) coats just to be sure... both are Rust-o-leum.
To this... Viola' a chalk board surface that I truly hope stands up to my grandchildren
(all two of them - so far...).
The green/orange things are Bilibo's they are the cardboard box of the 20th century... You know we all went down the stairs in cardboard boxes as children, although most parents wouldn't encourage that today, but grandparents will..!!! This is a little to small to skid down stairs (or are they, hummmm...) any ways it can be a helmet, toy basket, tunnel, spinning seat, and stool...
what ever their little minds can imagine...
I painted the other non-chalk board surfaces with "Mustang" the color is very close to Espresso...
You can't see that inside I have three perfectly fitted rubbery handled bins for sorting trains, trucks, and other toys from, oh yeah IKEA baby...!
Total cost (including the unused can of spray paint, I'll find something to cover with it - heehee)
$97 bucks, not so shabby...
